Shinjuku Washington Hotel

Before I begin blogging about day 4 I just want to give a quick mention of our room at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel. The room was booked one month prior  from departing out of Toronto simply because August is high season which meant that hotel rates during this time would be extremely expensive. If anyone ever wants to book a room in central Tokyo at a discounted rate use the site which I used. http://www.planettokyo.com/ this site definitely has some really good rates in some good locations. The website is safe and is legit. I paid approximately $80 CDN per night which is really good considering we got a room in  central Shinjuku (downtown pretty much). WARNING! Although you are getting a good bang for your buck, do not be surprised if you are given a budget room. What is a budget room you ask? It is pretty much a room with a small bed, a small desk, closet and a 15 inch monitor that only has 8 channels with no english speaking channels to choose from. The only source of entertainment is for you to purchase a VOD (Video on Demand) card for 1000 Yen which allows to you watch english movies such as Forest Gump, The Green Mile etc. Also, a budget room will give you a washroom which is literally the size of a closet. To put it in retrospect, the size is pretty much the arms length of your outstretched arms from one end to the next. There isnt much room to do anything other than the required activities. Aside from the all the negative aspects of the room, youll soon enjoy it and find it reasonably cozy.

  1. The room doesn't sound too bad considering
your spending most of your time sightseeing. I
hear at temple stays you sleep on the floor!
